The Digital Europe Programme (DIGITAL) is an EU funding programme focused on bringing digital technology to businesses, citizens and public administrations. Recognizing the critical role of digital infrastructure in communication, work, science, and addressing environmental challenges, DIGITAL aims to reduce Europe's dependency on external systems, further emphasized by the COVID-19 pandemic and geopolitical tensions like Russia’s aggression against Ukraine. This has underscored the need for investment in cybersecurity and digital capacity enhancement.

DIGITAL provides strategic funding for supercomputing, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, advanced digital skills, and the broad adoption of digital technologies, supporting enterprises and public administrations through European Digital Innovation Hubs (EDIH).

With a budget of € 7.59 billion for 2021-2027, DIGITAL seeks to steer Europe’s digital transformation. It complements the funding available through other EU programmes, such as the Horizon Europe (for research and innovation) and the Connecting Europe Facility (for digital infrastructure), the Recovery and Resilience Facility and the Structural funds

The funding and tender opportunities web page provides an overview of the topics under the Digital Europe Programme and allows you to browse upcoming or open calls for proposals. Each call includes specific documents detailing the European Commission's objectives, and proposals must be submitted online before 17:00 Brussels time on the specified deadline. Early submission is advisable.

Post-deadline, proposals are evaluated according to the criteria in the Work Programmes, often with input from independent experts. Successful applicants will proceed to a grant agreement with the European Commission, outlining project activities, duration, budget, and EU contributions, to be finalized within nine months of the call closure.
