The VIAVIA project, funded by the Interreg VI-A programme, aims to connect Roman historical sites across borders in the Maas-Rijn region, enhancing tourism and cultural awareness. Coordinated by Gemeente Heerlen, it will link existing routes and develop nine hotspots with immersive experiences. Running from January 2025 to December 2027, it focuses on creating a cohesive tourism product, boosting visitor engagement, and supporting local entrepreneurs. Expected outcomes include increased tourism revenue, improved cultural awareness and the development of new products and services by local businesses.
