The SME & Clusters Assembly, the EU's largest annual gathering for small business policy, takes place in Dublin from 2 to 4 November 2026 under the Irish Presidency of the Council. For the first time, the event merges with the European Cluster Conference into a single flagship gathering for European enterprise policy.

The programme opens on 2 November with local business visits, followed by two days of sessions at the Convention Centre Dublin addressing questions directly relevant to small retailers and other SMEs: how to grow and access new markets in a more competitive global environment, what artificial intelligence means in practice for businesses without dedicated technology resources, and how to build more resilient supply chains amid a changing geopolitical context. Dedicated matchmaking sessions are designed to let SMEs and business clusters connect and develop cross-border, cross-sector partnerships.

The programme also recognises outstanding European enterprises and entrepreneurs, including finalists of the Youth Start-Up Challenge, with an evening reception and the Schumpeter "Innovation in Enterprise" Lecture held at Dublin Castle on 3 November as part of European SME Week. In-person attendance is capacity-limited and subject to registration approval, though key sessions will also be streamed online for those not admitted in person, widening practical access for smaller retail businesses unable to travel to Dublin.
