Women are the driving force of Europe’s retail and wholesale sector - representing 62% of the workforce and one in five women entrepreneurs in the EU. These businesses (especially small and family-run ones) are deeply connected to their communities and provide economic support and opportunities at the local level.

EuroCommerce is organising a Working Breakfast, hosted by MEP Marion Walsmann and in partnership with SME Europe of the EPP to:

• highlight the stories, challenges, and successes of women who run or work in retail.
• talk about programmes that help women move up in their careers or start businesses.
• discuss legislation needed to better support women in retail and wholesale, and offer ideas for improvement to EU policymakers
• show that empowering women in retail and wholesale isn't just good for equality, it’s also a smart strategy to boost the competitiveness.
