How can the footwear industry accelerate the transition to a circular economy?
Join us at the Permanent Representation of Portugal to the European Union in Brussels to discover how the BioShoes4All project, led by APICCAPS, is helping reshape the future of sustainable footwear through bio-based materials, eco-design, circular production models, and innovative technologies.
Over the past three years, the Portuguese footwear industry has been driving a major transformation towards a more circular and resource-efficient economy. Supported by the EU’s Recovery and Resilience Facility, a consortium of 70 partners has developed 50 innovative products and advanced manufacturing solutions designed to reduce waste, extend material life cycles, and lower environmental impact — while strengthening the sector’s competitiveness.
Now, these solutions and insights are coming to the heart of Europe.
The event will feature a high-level panel discussion and Q&A on how industries are adapting to the bioeconomy and circular economy transition, with contributions from:
- Luca Boltri, Vice-Director General of UNIC – Italian Tanneries
- Lorenza Romanese, Secretary General of European Bioplastics
- Philippe Willems, CEO of Orineo
- Marco Pellegrini, Bioeconomy Manager at Cefic
If you work in sustainability, materials and product innovation, circular design, manufacturing, policy, or the bioeconomy ecosystem, this is an opportunity to connect, exchange ideas, and explore scalable solutions for Europe’s green transition.
