From regulation, to infrastructure, skills, and much more, the pledges released so far through the EU Textiles Ecosystem Platform reflect the vast variety of solutions deployed to drive sustainability, innovation, and resilience. The second published report provides a overview of 125 pledges that were validated and published on the platform until 15 March 2026. Among the examples showcased:
- BekaertDeslee pledges to build a fully circular textile value chain through eco-design, increased recyclability, and waste elimination
- Recover pledges to strengthen responsible production through robust HSE standards, supplier due diligence and workforce development
- Rino Mastrotto pledges to contribute to natural resource saving through “Hearth”, its innovative tanning process
Ahead of the third report and corresponding campaign to showcase new pledges as participation continues to grow, the European Commission is reiterating its call to the ecosystem.
Who can submit a pledge
One doesn’t have to be a market leader or have a revolutionary patent to make a pledge - we’ve seen how SMEs and modest but measurable commitments can make a massive difference. Participating organisations represent diverse segments of the textile ecosystem, including apparel and footwear manufacturers, waste management providers, technology companies, business support networks and even research institutes. The only strict requirement is longevity - your pledge is meant to sustainably transform what you do, therefore, a project that has an end date is less likely to fulfil the criteria, however, a company or an organisation can easily benefit from this visibility.
Pledges may cover a wide range of topics across the eight building blocks of the Transition Pathway: sustainable competitiveness, regulation and governance, social dimension, research and innovation, infrastructure, skills, investment and funding, and EU strategic autonomy and defence support.
What are the benefits of making a pledge
Beyond accountability through measurable indicators and target dates, a pledge helps assert your work within the ecosystem. Without a doubt, this exposure supports recognition of leadership in sustainability and innovation, creates opportunities for knowledge exchange and partnership formation, and helps attract aligned customers, talent and investors.
Next to a public online mention within the powerful ec.europa.eu domain, most interesting pledges are periodically included into our campaigns - with a report and social media content that travel wide through the European Commission channels, #EUTextiles Ambassadors and even platform members, such as Enterprise Europe Network.
European Commission is the first reviewer of these pledges. The collective inventory thus not only helps identify areas requiring additional policy focus or collaborative effort but also enabling the ecosystem members to address gaps and strengthen weak points in the transformation process.
How to pledge
Organisations are invited to submit pledges through the dedicated section on the EU Textiles Ecosystem Platform and to update their commitments to highlight impactful practices regularly. Guidelines are available on the platform to help stakeholders develop effective pledges.
An effective pledge consists of three essential components: a tangible commitment to an ongoing or planned initiative, a measurable indicator for objective assessment, and a target date to establish accountability.
The EU Textiles Ecosystem Platform continues to collect, validate, and publish new pledges on a rolling bases, aiming to expand participation across Member States and stakeholder groups. The sooner you pledge, the more exposure and influence it will have.
