The Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) has launched a public comment period on the exposure draft of its upcoming Sector Standard for Textiles and Apparel, inviting feedback from stakeholders across the value chain.
The purpose of the Sector Standard is to enhance the quality and comparability of sustainability information by setting the global best practice for organisations operating in textile production, apparel and footwear manufacturing, and retail.
The draft standard addresses key sector-specific impacts such as working conditions, resource use, chemical management, and circularity. Once finalised, it will provide clear guidance aligned with the GRI Universal Standards and help ensure greater transparency and consistency across the sector.
The exposure draft is now available, and the public comment period is open until 28 September 2025. Stakeholders are invited to provide their feedback by completing an online survey. The exposure draft, survey, and webinars schedule are available on the GRI website.
