Destination Lofoten's "Lofoten the Green Islands 2030" initiative is well underway, transforming the region into Norway's most climate-friendly travel destination. Having successfully implemented climate accounting systems across the majority of tourism businesses and embracing zero-emission transport options, Lofoten has significantly reduced tourism-related greenhouse gases. By fostering a circular economy, the islands are on track to achieve a 60% reduction in emissions. Supported by local municipalities and industries, Lofoten continues to lead by example in regenerative and responsible tourism practices, solidifying its status as a global benchmark in sustainable tourism.
