The SPOON project (Food Systems in Transition – ParticipatOry, Open Citizen Research for Sustainable Nutrition) is an initiative funded by the European Union’s Horizon Europe research and innovation programme. Its mission is to bring together citizens, researchers, industry stakeholders, civil society organisations, and policymakers to collaboratively shape a fairer, healthier, and more sustainable food future.

Running from 1 December 2024 to 30 November 2028, the project focuses on four key objectives:

  • Understanding food systems
  • Shaping food behaviours
  • Driving digital innovation
  • Empowering decision-makers

The project is coordinated by the Collaborating Centre on Sustainable Consumption and Production (CSCP) and involves 16 European partner organisations. It will be implemented through six Citizen Science Labs, six Behaviour Change Interventions, the SPOON Digital Toolset, the SPOON Academy of Change, policy recommendations, and a series of workshops and events.

For further details, please refer to the project website linked on the left-hand side of the platform.
