The main goal of Agrinatura is to contribute to the development and dissemination of knowledge that leads to innovation as a key in poverty reduction, economic growth, and enhanced food security needed to increase the production and productivity for future generations at the same time in achievement of sustainable agriculture for the protection of the environment and achievement to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Agrinatura has set strategic objectives over its 30-year existence, involving its members in a highly participatory process. These are:
To play a proactive policy advocacy role for agricultural research and education for development in Europe and worldwide.
To develop, strengthen, and encourage strategic alliances, partnerships, and networks with and between the different stakeholders (institutions, organisations, and individuals) in development, both in the North and in the South.
To organise, facilitate, and implement joint participation in European and international programmes and projects.
To provide support and advice for evidence-based policymaking, in particular at the European level.
Agrinatura supports the European Green Deal, a set of initiatives by the European Commission aimed at achieving Europe's climate neutrality by 2050, through the Farm to Fork strategy. This strategy promotes a global transformation of food systems and builds a strong knowledge base for sustainable and more resilient systems.
