A new Memorandum of Understanding links European and regional bioeconomy networks to improve cooperation on innovation support and funding pathways. The agreement is relevant to the agri-food transition because it can help bio-based solutions move more effectively from research to regional deployment. Regional authorities, SMEs, researchers and support organisations may benefit from closer links between innovation priorities and investment.

On 9 July 2026, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Circular Bio-based Europe Joint Undertaking, the European Forest Institute, ERIAFF, ERRIN and the Vanguard Initiative to strengthen cooperation on regional bioeconomy development across Europe. The agreement provides a framework for joint networking, information sessions and actions to help stakeholders, especially start-ups and SMEs, understand and access regional and national funding while improving complementarity between funding sources. A Joint Working Group will oversee implementation, building on the synergies strategy published in July 2025. For agri-food stakeholders, the cooperation is relevant because it aims to improve conditions for scaling bio-based solutions in agriculture, food and forestry and to connect innovation more effectively with regional priorities and investment.
