The Rural Pact Community Platform has highlighted the efforts of the 'Merill' rural network in enhancing sustainable tourism in Malta. Since its establishment in 2010, 'Merill' has assisted its members by offering resources to develop strategies and diversify into rural tourism, all while preserving local traditions and promoting a circular economy. As a result of its initiatives, the network has increased the number of members offering rural tourism services across Malta, diversified income sources for rural communities through rural tourism, attracted tourists, boosted local pride, and promoted environmental sustainability by reviving and preserving traditional practices.
