Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic in central Ukraine has reopened its academic building "F" after a renovation of around 20 months. The works were financed by a €1.75 million grant from the Eastern Europe Energy Efficiency and Environment Partnership (E5P), to which the EU is the largest contributor. The upgrade added automated heat controls and improved metering to reduce energy use and improve comfort, as well as ramps and tactile navigation for people with disabilities. The building also includes a shelter for more than 400 people, so that in-person education can continue during air-raid alerts. The grant complements financing from the European Investment Bank for the university's wider modernization under the EIB's Ukraine Higher Education project, which supports improvements to university buildings across Ukraine.
