In 2022, Eurostat reported that 34% of all tourism nights in the EU were concentrated in July and August. August was especially busy, with nearly 75% of EU regions (170 out of 242) experiencing their highest number of tourist nights. Coastal areas in Bulgaria, Greece, and Italy saw over half of their annual tourism nights during these two months. In contrast, regions with capital cities had a more even distribution of tourist nights throughout the year, showing less seasonality in their tourism patterns.
