Clear communication channels and accurate information are vital for the tourism ecosystem to respond and recover from crises effectively. Transparent communication ensures stakeholders—including government authorities, tourism businesses, and travellers—receive relevant updates, safety protocols, and travel advisories, enabling informed decision-making. The "Re-open EU" platform, which provided up-to-date information on travel restrictions during the COVID-19 pandemic, was discontinued in July 2023 but could be reactivated. By extending its scope, this platform can serve as a comprehensive resource for crisis-related information, accessible to travellers and tourism organisations alike. It would facilitate access to official measures and updates directly from national or regional authorities at the EU level.
