The European Commission has announced the seven finalists for the 2027 European Green Capital and Green Leaf Awards. The cities were selected based on their achievements and their commitment to sustainable urban development.
Among the contenders for the 2027 European Green Capital title are Debrecen (Hungary), Heilbronn (Germany), and Klagenfurt am Wörthersee (Austria). Finalists for the 2027 European Green Leaf Award include Assen (the Netherlands), Benidorm (Spain), Saint-Quentin (France), and Siena (Italy).
The winners will be announced at a celebratory award ceremony on 2 October 2025 in Vilnius, Lithuania — the current European Green Capital.
