Ahead of the trilogue negotiations scheduled for Monday, 23 June, several major associations representing over 3 million businesses across Europe’s retail and hospitality industries—Euro Coop, HOTREC, Independent Retail Europe, and RURALTOUR—have issued a joint statement urging EU co-legislators to postpone the finalisation of the Green Claims Directive.

According to Travel Tomorrow, the groups have expressed serious concerns about the directive’s complexity and its potential negative impact on both competitiveness and sustainability initiatives.

The associations are specifically calling for the simplification of Articles 3, 8, and 10, arguing that no agreement should be reached until these sections are significantly revised.
