Tetra Pak welcomes and strongly endorses the EU Code of Conduct on Responsible Food Business and Marketing Practices: a common aspirational path towards sustainable food systems.  As a world-leading food processing technologies and packaging solutions company, Tetra Pak has a significant role to play in enabling the decarbonization of food systems through our products, solutions, and services in the overall pursuit of protecting food, people, and the planet.

Commitments by aspirational objectives:

Aspirational objective 3: A climate-neutral food chain in Europe by 2050

With the following aspirational target: 

Reducing net emissions from own operations, contributing to a 55% GHG emission reduction target in the EU food chain by 2030 (following a science-based approach).

Tetra Pak commitments:

  • Reach a net-zero GHG target in our operations by 2030 (scope 1 and 2 and business travel).

  •  Reach a net zero GHG ambition across the value chain by 2050 (scope 1, 2, and 3).

  • Source 100% renewable electricity in our operations by 2030 in line with the RE1003 commitment.

  • Reduce carbon footprint, water usage, food loss, and waste of our best practice processing lines by 50% by 2030 (compared to 2019).

     

Aspirational objective 4: An optimised circular and resource-efficient food chain in Europe

With the following aspirational targets:

a) Improved resource efficiency within own operations, contributing to sustainable, efficient use and management of energy and natural resources in operations by 2030.

b) Improved sustainability of food and drink packaging, striving for all packaging towards circularity by 2030.

Tetra Pak commitments:

  • As the European Beverage Carton Industry reaches a 70% recycling rate of Used Beverage Cartons in the European Union by 2030.
