The ETSM2030 (European Tourism Sustainability Monitoring 2030) project, funded by the European Union (EU), aims to enhance sustainability certification and knowledge among small and medium tourism enterprises (SMTEs). Running from January 2023 to December 2025, it seeks to create a collaborative network where participating SMTEs can co-create and implement Sustainable Innovation Projects (SIPs) and increase their involvement in sustainability certification schemes such as the EU Ecolabel and EMAS.
So far, the project has announced a call and selected 84 SMTEs from six EU countries (Austria, Germany, Italy, Poland, Romania, and Slovenia) to receive tailored training and support to improve their sustainability performance. Additionally, it has assessed the current sustainability status of the participants. This initiative aims to build a more sustainable and resilient tourism industry in Europe.
