The European Commission has announced a new funding opportunity under the Horizon Europe (HORIZON) programme, aimed at supporting initiatives that connect Europe’s complex historical legacy with its future potential. This call focuses on the conservation, preservation, and adaptive re-use of contentious and dissonant heritage across Europe.

Projects should foster inclusive dialogue, translate research into practical applications, offer innovative approaches, and provide policymakers with actionable insights to address the challenges of contested heritage.

Participation is open to any legal entity, regardless of location—including those from non-associated third countries and international organisations (such as European research bodies)—provided they meet the requirements set out in the Horizon Europe Regulation and the specific conditions of the call or topic.

A total of EUR 3,500,000 has been allocated for this call. Applications will be accepted until 16 September 2025.
