The main scope of the International Science Festival: agriculture, food, environment (2025 edition) is to examine how global food systems can feed a projected 10 billion people by 2050 while staying within planetary boundaries.
The event focuses on:
Integrating science and policy to guide sustainable food system transitions.
Balancing productivity, nutrition, and environmental protection, especially in light of climate change, biodiversity loss, and resource constraints.
Showcasing scientific evidence and innovations from French and international research institutions (e.g., INRAE, CIRAD, IRD) that support agroecology, circular food systems, and resilience.
Encouraging dialogue among researchers, policymakers, and international organizations (UN agencies, development actors, etc.) on the transformation pathways needed to achieve sustainable global food security.
The organizations leading the event are the following:
CIRAD (French Agricultural Research Centre for International Development)
INRAE (French National Research Institute for Agriculture, Food and Environment)
IRD (French Research Institute for Development)
- Permanent Representation of France to the United Nations in Rome
