The European flour milling industry is the largest single food user of domestic wheat, rye and oats. A resilient, competitive and sustainable flour milling sector is crucial for ensuring food security and supporting rural economies in Europe.
The European Flour Millers' association gathers national associations from 27 European countries. They represent around 3 000 milling companies, most of which are small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), employing 45 000 people.
