The WUITIPS project, which aims to advance a harmonised understanding of wildfire issues in tourist areas, has released a comprehensive guide to enhance human protection in wildland-urban interface zones. This guide, published in May 2025, focuses on the safety of tourists during wildfire emergencies. It includes analyses of tourist behaviour, empirical data collection, archetypes of tourist behaviour, a tourist polygon vulnerability assessment tool, and guidelines for best practices in human protection. The document emphasises the importance of understanding human behaviour and decision-making during emergencies.
